Baked Plums with Pecans & Maple Syrup
Makes 4 servings
Six simple Ingredients, five of which are probably already in your pantry, create a dessert that no one will believe was this simple to make. The spices bring out the best in the plums and the nuts boost your calcium, potassium, and magnesium intake, while adding a satisfying crunchy texture.
INGREDIENTS
4 plums, pitted and cut in half
14 teaspoons ground cardamom
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
½ teaspoon nutmeg
¼ cup pecans, crushed
4 teaspoons maple syrup
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Arrange the plums cut side up on a rimmed cookie sheet.
3. Whisk together the cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a cup or small bowl.
4. Sprinkle the spices over the plums, then place ½ tablespoon of crushed pecans in the center of each plum.
5. Drizzle each plum with ½ teaspoon of maple syrup and bake for 30 minutes.
6. Remove from the oven and cool baked plums for 10–15 minutes.
7. Serve warm. Top with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired. Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
